Privacy Policy
How we handle your information
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the Shirley Luu & Associates website and its related forms, scheduling experiences and protected administrator areas. “SLA,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to Shirley Luu & Associates and the licensed professionals acting on its behalf.
This website policy does not replace a separate privacy notice, application notice or authorization provided in connection with an insurance or financial product. Information collected during an application, underwriting, policy-service or other client process may be subject to additional notices from SLA, an individual licensed professional, an insurance carrier or another provider. If those notices conflict with this website policy, the more specific notice controls for that information.
Information we collect
- Information you provide directly. This may include your name, email address, telephone number, questions, appointment details and other information you send by email, telephone or an online form.
- Client feedback. Our feedback forms collect a private full name, rating, testimonial, preferred public display name, occupational title, publication authorization and submission time.
- Career applications. Our career form collects contact details, location, current role, licensing and experience information, written responses and a PDF résumé.
- Scheduling information. When you schedule through an embedded Calendly experience, Calendly may collect your contact, appointment and technical information on our behalf and under its own privacy notice.
- Technical and usage information. Our hosting, security and analytics providers may automatically process information such as IP address, browser or device characteristics, referring pages, pages viewed, timestamps and approximate location derived from an IP address.
- Administrator authentication. For protected areas, the authentication provider may supply an account identifier, email address and optional profile name so we can verify authorized access.
How we use information
We use information to respond to requests; schedule and provide services; understand a person’s stated goals; administer feedback and authorized testimonials; evaluate career applicants; maintain records; operate, secure and improve the website; prevent fraud or misuse; satisfy legal, regulatory and contractual obligations; and protect the rights, safety and property of SLA, its clients and others.
Submitting information through this website does not require SLA to accept an engagement, recommend a product, offer employment or enter any other relationship.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose information to authorized SLA personnel and to service providers that support hosting, database storage, file storage, security, analytics, communications and scheduling. Those providers may process information only for the services they perform and under their applicable terms and privacy obligations.
We may also disclose information when you direct or authorize us to do so; to insurance carriers or other providers when needed for a service you request and after any required notices or authorizations; to comply with law, regulation, subpoena, court order or governmental request; to investigate misuse or protect rights and safety; or in connection with a legitimate business reorganization, subject to appropriate protections.
We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.
Testimonials and publication choices
A testimonial is eligible for publication only when the person submitting it provides the authorization shown on the feedback form. We use the selected display-name format and occupational title. A private full name is not intended for public display unless “First and last name” is selected.
You may ask us to stop future use of a testimonial by contacting us. We will make reasonable efforts to remove it from materials under our control, although removal may not be immediate and cannot always retrieve materials already printed, distributed or lawfully used before the request.
Cookies, analytics and third-party tools
The website and its service providers may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies necessary for security, functionality, authentication and audience measurement. Embedded scheduling is provided by Calendly. Information entered in that experience is also governed by Calendly’s Privacy Notice. You may use browser controls to limit cookies, but some features may not function as intended.
Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including client service, testimonial administration, applicant evaluation, security, recordkeeping, dispute resolution and legal or regulatory requirements. Retention periods vary by information type and context. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete, de-identify or securely dispose of it.
Your choices and U.S. privacy rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete information you submitted through the website, withdraw a testimonial authorization, or ask a privacy question. Depending on where you live and whether an applicable law covers the information and SLA, you may also have rights to confirm processing, obtain a portable copy, opt out of certain sales, targeted advertising or profiling, use an authorized agent, or appeal a denied request.
We may need to verify your identity and request before acting. We may deny or limit a request when permitted by law, when an exemption applies, or when retaining information is required or reasonably necessary. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information and services involved. No website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Email and open-text forms should not be used for highly sensitive information. If you believe information submitted to us may have been compromised, contact us promptly.
Children
This website is intended for adults in the United States and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information may contact us to request its deletion.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website, vendors, services or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be posted here and, when appropriate or legally required, communicated through an additional notice.
Website Disclosures
What this website does—and does not—provide
General education, not individualized advice
Website content, books, articles, illustrations, examples, calculators, videos and answers to general questions are provided for educational and informational purposes only. They are not individualized financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting or estate-planning advice and should not be relied upon as a recommendation or prediction.
Nothing on this website creates a client, advisory, fiduciary, agency, employment or other professional relationship. A personalized recommendation, if any, would occur only after an appropriately licensed professional reviews relevant information about your needs, objectives, financial situation, risk tolerance, time horizon and other circumstances.
No offer; licensing and availability
Nothing on this website is an offer to sell, a solicitation to buy or a guarantee that any insurance or financial product is available or appropriate. Insurance products and services may be offered only by properly licensed and appointed professionals in jurisdictions where permitted. Product features, rates, eligibility, carrier availability and professional licensing vary by state and may change.
This website does not represent that SLA or every person associated with SLA provides securities, investment-advisory, legal, tax or accounting services. Any regulated service would be offered only through appropriately licensed or authorized persons and under the separate agreements and disclosures applicable to that service.
Life insurance and annuity products are not bank deposits, are not FDIC insured, are not guaranteed by a bank or any federal government agency, and may be subject to limitations, charges, restrictions and risk of loss where applicable. All guarantees are based on the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company.
Life insurance and indexed universal life
Life insurance is designed primarily to provide a death benefit. Cash value, premium flexibility and other features depend on the policy. Indexed universal life insurance does not invest directly in a market index. Interest-crediting methods may include caps, participation rates, spreads, floors and other limitations that can change subject to the contract.
Policy charges apply. Insufficient premiums, unfavorable crediting, loans, withdrawals or other activity may reduce cash value and death benefits, require additional premiums, cause a policy to lapse or create tax consequences. Illustrations include non-guaranteed assumptions and are not promises of future performance. Review the carrier’s illustration, policy and disclosures before making a decision.
Fixed indexed annuities
A fixed indexed annuity is a long-term insurance contract and is not a direct investment in a stock-market index. Interest credits depend on the contract’s crediting terms, which may include participation rates, caps and spreads. Withdrawals may be limited and may trigger surrender charges, market value adjustments, taxes or other consequences. Riders may have separate charges, restrictions and conditions.
Tax deferral is not an additional benefit when an annuity is held inside a tax-qualified plan. An annuity should be evaluated based on its complete features, costs, liquidity, guarantees and suitability—not tax deferral alone.
Taxes and legal matters
Tax rules are complex and depend on individual facts. Tax treatment is not guaranteed and laws may change. SLA and its insurance professionals do not provide legal, tax or accounting advice through this website. Consult qualified independent professionals about those matters before acting.
Compensation and carrier relationships
When permitted and applicable, SLA professionals may receive commissions or other compensation from insurance carriers or product providers in connection with the sale or servicing of products. Available carriers, products, compensation arrangements and professional appointments may differ. Ask your licensed professional for product-specific information.
Testimonials and third-party statements
Testimonials describe individual experiences and opinions. They may not represent every client’s experience, are not a guarantee of future results and should not be interpreted as financial or product advice. A person’s occupational title is provided for identification and does not imply endorsement by an employer or professional organization.
Third-party websites and scheduling
Links and embedded tools may lead to services operated by third parties, including Calendly and product-provider resources. SLA does not control their availability, security, content or privacy practices. A link does not necessarily imply endorsement. Review the third party’s terms and privacy notice before providing information.
Accuracy, availability and limitation
We seek to provide useful and accurate information, but website content may become outdated and may contain errors or omissions. SLA does not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, use of the website and reliance on general website content are at your own risk. Nothing in this paragraph limits rights or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise indicated, website text, design, graphics, logos and original materials are owned by or licensed to SLA and may not be copied, republished or used commercially without prior written permission. Product names and third-party marks belong to their respective owners.
Accessibility
Access should be clear for everyone
SLA aims to make its website usable by people with a wide range of abilities, devices and assistive technologies. Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a claim of perfect or certified conformance.
If you encounter a barrier or need information in another format, contact us and describe the page, feature or material involved. We will make reasonable efforts to provide assistance or an accessible alternative.
